The Oakfield September Show runs from Friday lunchtime until 3pm Sunday. People can arrive from Thursday lunchtime and leave Monday morning by prior arrangement. We suggest if you are travelling long distances this is a good idea as it gives you a chance to rest the horses after their journey. Please contact us via email or fb messenger if you plan to arrive early. Normal arrival time is Friday onward.
Friday PM there is an opportunity for track familiarisation and Nick and judge/s will be available to check your tack and talk you through your entries. There is a shared takeaway about 5-6pm on Friday evening in the clubhouse and the judges and Nick will then give a short presentation about what they are looking for, warming up, track protocol, farm facilities etc. Those that are arriving early and have booked for a have-a-go at horseback archery with Peter Rudin-Burgess (fully booked) will have their first session in the evening.
Saturday is qualifier day and the schedule of the classes is published on the Oakfield Facebook page after supper on Friday once Nick is sure he has all the entries. There will be several turn up and go activities available for those who do not want to compete on the track as well as hacking maps in the information pack we supply when you book, we are hoping to get a weighbridge and obstacle/horse agility training as a turn up and go opportunity and Catherine Holland may be running a “mount from the ground” seminar. Peter Rudin-Burgess is offering a have-a-go at Horseback Archery which we have offered to the people who expressed an interest at the last show, so if you think you would like to have a go in the future do speak to Peter or Mo. After supper on Saturday evening we hold our very popular fancy dress competition. This year’s theme, chosen by last year’s winner is “Under the Sea” – open to your interpretation. There will be a Tölt in Harmony competition as well run by Fi Pugh. Timings will be announced at the show to fit in with Fi’s judging and competing committments. Rules are HERE.
The qualifier results are processed on Saturday evening and the Sunday finals schedule is published on the Oakfield Facebook page as quickly as can be managed but this may be as late as 9.00 or 10.00pm. A printed copy is placed on the clubhouse noticeboard and outside the PA caravan
Sunday is finals day and may start very early if the weather or the number of classes dictate, please be prepared.
- Oakfield Shows are run on FEIF (International Federation of Icelandic Horse Association) Sport Rules and Regulations available HERE (page 85 onward) with the following exceptions:
- Icelandic bits or any curb bits including Pelhams with or without roundings may NOT be used in Novice or Intermediate classes
- Horses may be part shod in Novice or Intermediate classes as long as no nail holes are visible in the back hooves (shoes must not be removed specially for competing at the show).
- Please note, if B finals are run, it is not advisable for competitors in novice classes to travel daily to the show as these will be the first classes run in the morning and may start as early as 8.00am

- Horses must be 5 years or older to compete in Novice & Intermediate classes
- Horses must be 6 years and over for Open classes (any rider may compete in open classes)
- Horses are paddocked alongside your transport. Please bring electric fence equipment and energiser. Haylage, water and poo disposal facilities are included as part of the entry fee
- Meal Deal includes breakfast & lunch Saturday & Sunday and Supper on Saturday plus unlimited tea and coffee (£22 per person, please indicate dietary needs on entry form)
- Individual meals can be purchased by visitors and participants but Saturday supper is only available with the meal deal due to space limitations
- Well behaved dogs are permitted but must be kept on a lead at all times and poo dealt with immediately, please ensure anyone supervising your dog is equipped and willing to clear up and understands how to keep it away from other dogs, especially at the track side.

There is no charge for spectators, please park in the drive or in the spaces outside the farm if you are spectating.
